The new ranking marks the highest placement in program history.

YPSILANTI — Eastern Michigan University’s GameAbove College of Engineering and Technology has surged to No. 60 in the nation in the latest U.S. News & World Report “Best Colleges” rankings—marking the highest placement in program history for institutions that do not offer doctoral degrees in the field. Among 291 eligible programs nationwide, Eastern stands out as the top-ranked public university in Michigan in this category.
EMU’s undergraduate engineering offerings -- including mechanical engineering, electrical and computer engineering, and civil engineering -- are earning national recognition for their academic rigor and career-focused outcomes. With a near-perfect job placement rate, the programs emphasize hands-on learning, real-world faculty expertise, and robust internships and partnerships with leading engineering and technology firms across Southeast Michigan.
“Our engineering programs continue to grow in both reputation and enrollment,” said Mohamad Qatu, dean of EMU’s GameAbove College of Engineering and Technology. “This ranking affirms the strength of our faculty and the intentional support we provide to ensure students graduate ready to launch meaningful, high-paying careers.”
Michigan’s demand for engineers is outpacing the supply of qualified graduates, placing EMU students in a powerful position. “Many of our students secure job offers before graduation,” Qatu added. “They’re entering the workforce with confidence, experience, and the skills employers need most.”
