Meet the Ownership Group

  • George Gervin

    George Gervin

    George is an NBA Hall of Famer. During his NBA tenure with the San Antonio Spurs, he became a 9x NBA All-Star, 5x All-NBA First Team selection, and 2x All-NBA Second Team selection. George attended Eastern Michigan University in 1970-72 and was noted as one of the university’s all-time basketball players. George remains active in the San Antonio community with his seven organizations explicitly designed for underprivileged kids, including the George Gervin Prep Academy and George Gervin Youth Center. He is currently the Head Coach of the BIG3 Ghost Ballers.

  • Joe Januszewski

    Joe Januszewski

    Joe is an experienced sports executive with a background in MLB. He has held C-suite positions with various MLB teams, including the Rangers, as EVP, Chief Revenue & Marketing Officer. Joe has also worked with the Red Sox teams of Fenway Sports Group, contributing to two World Series Championships and the renovation of Fenway Park and playing a key role in FSG’s acquisition of Liverpool FC. Most recently, he was Division Head/SVP of Property Solutions at William Morris Endeavor, where he led a team that secured property clients across the sports landscape and monetized high-end sports assets.

  • T.J. Lang

    T.J. Lang

    T.J. is a former Detroit Lions offensive lineman and current Lions Radio Network sideline reporter. T.J. attended Eastern Michigan University from 2005-2008. He was drafted to the National Football League by the Green Bay Packers in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft. T.J. was a member of the Packers’ Super Bowl XLV team and finished his NFL playing career with the Detroit Lions as a two-time Pro-Bowler.

  • Karen LeVert

    Karen LeVert

    Karen is the Managing Partner of LeVert Ventures, an AgTech venture capital firm. She has over thirty years of leadership experience in executive management and start-ups and a proven track record in technology commercialization. Karen has received multiple awards for her entrepreneurial contributions and sits on the board of several organizations. She holds an MBA from the University of Dayton and a BBA in Information Technology from Eastern Michigan University, where she was the women’s basketball team captain.

  • Daniel McClory

    Daniel J. McClory

    Daniel is the founder and CEO of Boustead & Company Limited. He joined Boustead Securities in 2016 and now serves as Head of China. He has an impressive background in equity capital markets and has held key positions in several top financial companies. Dan is also involved in various foundations and has earned degrees in English and International Trade. He holds FINRA Series 7, 66, 79, and 99 security licenses. Dan earned a B.S. in English and a Masters in Language and International Trade from Eastern Michigan University, and in 2010 was awarded an honorary Doctor of Public Service degree from the school.

  • Keith J. Stone

    Keith J. Stone

    Keith is a seasoned entrepreneur and visionary with a 35-year career in founding and nurturing self-funded ventures. He is the Chairman of CapStone Holdings, Inc., leading investments in FinTech, cybersecurity, aviation, autonomous technology, real estate, sports, and media. Keith has invested over $730 million in new ventures in the last three years and is also involved in GameAbove Giving, a charitable platform that focuses on education and sports opportunities. His business segments GameAbove Capital, Sports, Mobility, and Entertainment have seen success, and he aims to make a positive social impact through his investments. In 2019, he sold his debt-free corporate payment provider, CSI, for $620 million in cash, adding to his track record of successful sales.

  • Skyler Stone

    Skyler Stone

    Sky Stone is a serial entrepreneur, filmmaker, and creative director predominantly recognized for his influential video work in the music and motorcycle industries. Following his graduation from Brooks Institute, Sky Stone established his own media production company The Shop Media. Collaborating with prestigious brands such as Red Bull, NFL Films, Blink 182, Suzuki, and Indian Motorcycle, he solidified his company’s reputation for creating successful media marketing. Additionally, he’s continued to serve as a creative director for esteemed musicians and athletes. He is a founding member of CapStone Holdings, where he collaborates in alternative investments and real estate. Through his holding company, Grindstone Industries, he manages his personal brands and investments in media marketing, real estate, fashion, and consumer packaged goods.

  • Anthony Tomey

    Anthony Tomey

    Anthony is an active entrepreneur. In 2003, he purchased his first Jimmy John’s franchise and grew the business with his family. Today, the Tomey Group LLC operates 50 Jimmy John’s franchises in Metro Detroit. Anthony also owns TTD Enterprises LLC, a real estate portion of his entrepreneurial portfolio, Born In Detroit apparel and the 8 Mile Vodka Company. Anthony was a Eastern Michigan University baseball team member from 2000-2003. Anthony was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 2003 and played professionally until 2009.

  • Corey Welch

    Corey Welch

    Corey is an experienced SaaS revenue leader with over 13 years in technology sales across FinTech, marketing, and industrial technology. Following his time at Eastern Michigan University, Corey spent over a decade in FinTech, building startup teams, developing products, scaling business operations, and driving profitability in the mortgage and business lending sectors. After two successful exits in FinTech, Corey moved into the industrial technology space, where today, he leads Aatmunn (formerly Guardhat) as Chief Revenue Officer, driving the rebrand and revenue effort from hardware to software IoT. While at EMU, Corey was a four-year letter winner in football, earning All-Mac honors for Football and Academics.

For many who have followed the GameAbove brand closely, choosing the Motor City to base a new BIG3 franchise is unsurprising. Yet, the decision perfectly complements our significant efforts in Michigan and the communities surrounding Detroit since we launched in 2019.

GameAbove has generously contributed millions of dollars to Eastern Michigan University and special causes & initiatives in Southeast Michigan, including important areas such as student emergency funds, tackling food insecurities, promoting mental health, advancing youth STEM and literacy education, supporting youth sports, and offering scholarships.

Advancing STEM Education

GameAbove supported STEM education in Southeast Michigan through partnerships with the Mr. October Foundation, STEM 101, and Digital Divas and Dudes at EMU. The organization helped expand STEM initiatives for under-resourced students and supported after-school programs that provided essential skills and knowledge in technology-related fields.

In May 2021, GameAbove hosted a STEM For The Future Day at Hope Academy, celebrating STEM efforts in the area. The event featured special guest speakers, including Baseball Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson and Basketball Hall of Famer George Gervin.

Gamers Outreach GO KART

Promoting Health & Wellness

GameAbove partnered with Gamers Outreach, a Michigan-based charity that empowers hospitalized children to help restore a sense of joy and normalcy in their lives. Twelve Gamers Outreach Karts (GO Karts—portable gaming kiosks) were gifted to Trinity Health St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor and Trinity Health St. Joseph Mercy Oakland hospitals.

The George Gervin GameAbove Center (G3C) is on Eastern Michigan University’s athletic campus. It is home to EMU Basketball, Gymnastics and Volleyball. In-game and fan experience technologies and athletic training facilities have been upgraded with GameAbove funds.

The facility is a testament to GameAbove’s commitment to excellence in collegiate golf. This state-of-the-art training complex, spanning 13,000 square feet, is designed to propel the Eastern men’s and women’s golf teams to new heights of success. The facility provides an unparalleled training environment for all game elements with locker rooms, meeting spaces, indoor putting and chipping areas, and cutting-edge simulators.
