The new documentary from GameAbove Entertainment takes viewers inside the belief, pressure, and defining result behind one of Eastern Michigan athletics' most important seasons.

One match can change how people see a team. It can also change how a team sees itself.
That turning point is at the heart of UNDERDOGS, now streaming free on YouTube. Produced by GameAbove Entertainment and directed by Tyler Nimmons, the documentary follows the Eastern Michigan University women’s golf team through its remarkable run to the semifinals of the 2026 NCAA Championships.
Eastern reached the eight-team match-play field as the No. 5 seed. Waiting in the quarterfinals was fourth-seeded Texas, one of college golf’s most established programs. The Eagles answered the call with a 3.5-1.5 win, advancing to the national semifinals and etching their names into school history. Their run ended against eventual national champion Stanford, but the result stood: a tie for third and the highest national finish by an Eastern Michigan women’s team.

The Moment Belief Became VisibleThe final score tells viewers what happened. UNDERDOGS is interested in what the breakthrough meant. The film revisits the pressure of match play, the scale of the opportunity and the collective resolve required to meet an opponent with a much larger national profile.
This was not simply an upset preserved in a bracket. It was the point when years of preparation became visible on one of college golf’s biggest stages. Eastern did more than advance. The team established a new standard for what the program could expect from itself and what the sport should expect from Eastern.
That is what makes the story resonate beyond Ypsilanti and beyond golf. Every breakthrough begins before the wider world is paying attention. UNDERDOGS gives this one the space it deserves, preserving the tension and significance of a team refusing to let reputation decide the result.
A Story Built for GameAbove EntertainmentUNDERDOGS also reflects the kind of work GameAbove Entertainment is built to deliver: human-centered films that find the larger stakes inside competition. The production company has developed a growing slate of sports storytelling, including ICEMAN, the documentary about basketball legend George Gervin; Amp City, which follows the Detroit Amps' inaugural year in the BIG3; and ECHL Unfiltered, the all-access hockey docuseries whose South Carolina Stingrays season earned a Regional Emmy nomination.
Nimmons, who also directed and produced ECHL Unfiltered, brings that experience to a story with a different rhythm but the same essential foundation: trust, competitive truth and people at the center of the frame. With UNDERDOGS, GameAbove Entertainment turns a landmark result into a lasting narrative, one designed to connect with athletes, fans and anyone who understands what it means to be counted out.
The YouTube release now gives that story a wider stage. Eastern Michigan’s run changed the standard for the program. UNDERDOGS ensures the moment can travel farther, reaching viewers well beyond the final green.
