FRANKFORT, Mich. — Frankfort High School’s track team returned to the national stage this month with continued support from GameAbove Sports, delivering a historic performance at the 2026 Nike Outdoor Nationals in Eugene, Oregon.

After backing Frankfort’s national trip in 2025, GameAbove Sports again supported the team’s opportunity to compete against elite high school programs from across the country, including schools with enrollments of more than 2,000 students. Frankfort, one of northern Michigan’s small public school programs, used the moment to reinforce a powerful message: talent, preparation and belief can travel far beyond enrollment size.

The team’s standout achievement came in the 4x100-meter relay, where Frankfort placed second in the Emerging Elite Division while breaking its own school and state record with a time of 49.60. According to the team, no public school as small as Frankfort has ever placed that high in the history of the meet.

“The trip to Nike Outdoor Nationals is truly a dream come true for these athletes from northwest Michigan, from a high school with 130 students,” said Ed Schindler, Frankfort head track and field coach. “To compete against our nation’s best and perform the way they did is an incredible accomplishment. Though we finished second in the finals, breaking our state and school record in both the semifinals and finals is still special for us.”

Frankfort also made history in the 4x200-meter relay, finishing 11th in the Championship Division, the meet’s highest competitive division. The result marked another breakthrough for the program, with Frankfort competing among nationally recognized teams from much larger schools.

The team also added a new school record in the 4x400-meter relay, finishing in 4:09.30 and continuing a record-setting season that has elevated the program across Michigan and on the national stage.

GameAbove Sports’ support helped make the trip possible, continuing its commitment to expanding access, visibility and opportunity for student-athletes and athletic programs that are building something meaningful in their communities.

“When I started high school, our team set a lot of goals, especially our relay teams,” said Sofia Alaimo-Schindler, a Frankfort runner. “We had dreams of breaking school records, and we thought we had a chance at winning a state championship as a team. Having the opportunity to compete for a national championship wasn’t something I thought would even be possible with how small our school is. We wouldn’t have had this opportunity without GameAbove’s support, and we thank them for believing in us.”

Frankfort’s 2026 performance follows a strong 2025 appearance at Nike Outdoor Nationals, where the team earned national recognition with multiple top finishes and record-setting relay performances. This year’s return showed that Frankfort’s success was not a one-year moment, but part of a growing standard for the program.

For GameAbove Sports, the sponsorship reflects a broader belief in backing athletes, teams and communities whose stories deserve a larger platform. Frankfort’s national results offered more than a recap of placements; they showed what can happen when a small-school team is given the chance to compete on one of the sport’s biggest stages.
