Eastern Michigan women’s golf heads to the 2026 East Lake Cup after a historic NCAA semifinal run, bringing the Eagles to a national Golf Channel stage.

Eastern Michigan University women’s golf will close its fall schedule on one of the sport’s most visible collegiate stages when the Eagles compete in Atlanta's East Lake Cup from Oct. 26-28.
The three-day event at East Lake Golf Club brings together leading teams from the previous season’s NCAA Championship. Eastern Michigan will join Arkansas, Oklahoma State and USC in the women’s field, while Arizona, Auburn, Oklahoma State and UCLA make up the men’s field. Golf Channel will carry live coverage each day from 3-6 p.m. ET.
For Eastern Michigan, the invitation is more than another date on the schedule. It reflects how far the program has climbed and gives the Eagles an early opportunity to measure themselves against teams they could see again deep in the postseason.
A Place Earned Through a Historic RunEastern Michigan earned its place at East Lake through a breakthrough 2026 NCAA Championship. The fifth-seeded Eagles defeated fourth-seeded Texas, 3.5-1.5, in the quarterfinals before falling to eventual national champion Stanford in the semifinals. Their tie for third marked the best NCAA finish by an Eastern Michigan women’s team in school history.
That run changed the program’s competitive context. The East Lake Cup is reserved for a small group of teams that reached the highest level of the previous national championship, making the event both a reward for last season and a demanding test for the team now representing Eastern Michigan.
The format will move quickly. Teams will play 18 holes of stroke play Oct. 26 to determine seeds. Match-play semifinals follow Oct. 27, with the championship and third-place matches set for Oct. 28.
Momentum Built for the Next StageThe Eagles enter the final stretch of their fall schedule with evidence that last season’s success has carried forward. Eastern opened the 2026-27 campaign by winning the Leadership & Golf Invitational at Chambers Bay for the second consecutive year, while Savannah de Bock earned medalist honors. At the Golfweek Red Sky Classic, the team posted a program-record 21-under 843, including a final-round 16-under 272 that lowered the program’s single-round record by seven shots.
Before traveling to Atlanta, Eastern is competing in the Rainbow Wahine Invitational in Hawai’i from Oct. 19-21. That tournament gives the team one final full stroke-play event before the format change and heightened visibility at East Lake. Any publication after Oct. 21 should update this paragraph with the verified final result from Hawai’i.
The East Lake field directly links what the Eagles accomplished last spring to what they are building now. USC was the 2026 national runner-up, Arkansas also reached the national semifinals, and Oklahoma State advanced to NCAA match play. Eastern will not have to wait until May to face a championship-level environment.
GameAbove on the Course With EMUGameAbove’s connection to Eastern Michigan golf is visible throughout the 2026-27 season. GameAbove is the official competition-apparel patch sponsor for the university’s men’s and women’s golf programs this year, placing the brand alongside the Eagles as they compete nationally.
That sponsorship is one part of a broader, documented history of support for EMU golf, including the GameAbove Golf Performance Center and the university’s development of resources for student-athletes. The East Lake Cup offers a timely moment to recognize the program’s results while keeping the achievement where it belongs: with the players and coaches who earned their place in the field.
It also reflects the role sustained investment in training environments and the student-athlete experience plays in giving a program the opportunity to compete at a higher level. Facilities and resources don't guarantee a score, but they can create conditions where preparation is more consistent, and ambition becomes more tangible.
A National WindowWith live national television coverage and an elite field, the East Lake Cup will introduce more viewers to a program that has already rewritten its own expectations. For EMU alumni and supporters, it is another chance to see the Eagles compete against some of the strongest programs in college golf. For current and future student-athletes, it shows the stage now within reach at Eastern Michigan.
The next chapter begins Oct. 26 at East Lake: 18 holes to set the bracket, two days of match play, and another chance for the Eagles to show their national breakthrough wasn't a closing scene, but a standard they intend to keep pursuing.
