A professional golfer and East Kentwood alumnus returned to Mary Free Bed in Grand Rapids, where he once was a patient.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — GameAbove-sponsored professional golfer Brett White continues to inspire the golf world with his remarkable return to competition after a life-threatening illness nearly ended his career.
In 2017, White was struck by a rare brain infection that left him temporarily paralyzed and uncertain if he’d ever walk again—let alone compete. Today, after years of perseverance and recovery, the Grand Rapids native is back on the course, chasing his PGA TOUR dreams and proving that determination can overcome even the toughest setbacks.
White’s journey embodies the spirit of GameAbove’s mission to Bring Forth Greatness—supporting athletes who exemplify resilience, integrity, and an unshakable drive to succeed.
