GameAbove’s Investment in the Michigan Women’s Open Is About More Than Sponsorship

GameAbove joins the Michigan Women’s Open as a presenting sponsor, reinforcing its growing investment in women’s golf, athlete development and the future of the game in Michigan and beyond.

As women’s golf continues to experience unprecedented momentum, GameAbove is making a deeper commitment to the future of the game — not only through athlete representation and golf technology investments, but by helping create meaningful opportunities for the next generation of players.

That vision is what led GameAbove to join Coca-Cola as a presenting sponsor of the 2026 Michigan Women’s Open at Crystal Mountain.

For GameAbove, the partnership represents more than branding around a tournament. It reflects a broader philosophy centered on access, development and long-term investment in athletes and communities — especially in Michigan, where the organization’s roots run deep.

“We saw an opportunity to support something that aligns naturally with who we are and what we believe in,” said Jordan Young, Director of Golf Operations at GameAbove. “Women’s golf is growing rapidly right now, but growth only becomes sustainable when athletes have access to high-level competitive opportunities and meaningful support systems. Events like the Michigan Women’s Open are critical to that ecosystem.”

The 2026 championship arrives at a pivotal moment for women’s professional golf in the state. The tournament will officially become part of the ANNIKA Women’s All-Pro Tour (WAPT) schedule, strengthening its role as a developmental pathway toward the LPGA Tour and Epson Tour. For many competitors, the event will serve as both a proving ground and a launching point.

That mission strongly resonated with GameAbove.

Over the last several years, the organization has steadily expanded its involvement in golf through GameAbove Golf — building a portfolio focused on innovation, athlete performance and the future of the sport. Its investments now include companies such as McLaren Golf, PLATFORM Golf and CHIP’d Golf, while also supporting professional and emerging athletes across multiple levels of competition.

But according to Young, GameAbove’s interest in the Michigan Women’s Open was ultimately driven by the people behind the game.

“Our relationships with athletes like Sarah White, Janae Leovao and Jasmine Leovao gave us an even closer look at the journey female golfers face,” Young said. “The amount of discipline, sacrifice and perseverance required to compete professionally is incredible. Supporting this tournament is one way we can help create more visibility and more opportunity for athletes chasing those goals.”

White, who won the Michigan Women’s Open in 2022, represents the caliber of player the event continues to attract. With the ANNIKA WAPT partnership now elevating the championship’s profile nationally, GameAbove sees the tournament becoming an increasingly important stop for rising professionals.

The setting also mattered.

Crystal Mountain’s Mountain Ridge course has become synonymous with the Michigan Women’s Open over the last two decades, helping establish one of the state’s premier competitive environments for women’s golf. Recently named the 2025 Michigan Golf Course of the Year by the Michigan Golf Course Association, the venue provides the kind of championship-caliber stage that GameAbove believes athletes deserve.

“Michigan has a strong golf culture and a strong sports culture,” Young said. “Being able to support an event that showcases both — while also bringing attention to women competing at an elite level — made this partnership an easy decision for us.”

The organization also views the investment as part of a larger commitment to supporting women’s athletics across multiple sports and platforms. As media attention and participation continue to rise globally in women’s sports, GameAbove believes organizations have an opportunity — and responsibility — to help accelerate that momentum through authentic investment.

For the Michigan Women’s Open, that support arrives during what many believe could become the most significant year in tournament history.

The 2026 event will feature a 132-player field, including 80 ANNIKA WAPT members competing for prize money, tour points and exemptions into LPGA Epson Tour events. The tournament will also continue its Legends Division tradition while welcoming top amateur and professional players from around the country.

For GameAbove, however, success will be measured by more than the leaderboard.

“It’s about helping create an environment where athletes can grow, compete and be seen,” Young said. “If we can play even a small role in helping move women’s golf forward — especially here in Michigan — then that’s something we’re proud to be part of.”
