GameAbove gifts two new e-bikes to Eastern Michigan University’s Department of Public Safety
E-bikes will advance overall campus safety and engagement
YPSILANTI – Eastern Michigan University’s Department of Public Safety is welcoming the addition of two new e-bikes to help improve campus safety thanks to a gift from GameAbove, a team of EMU alumni.
In addition to improving campus safety, e-bikes are environmentally friendly. The new e-bikes are manufactured by Recon Power Bikes, recognized as a leader in law enforcement e-bikes. Its all-terrain e-bikes use heavy-duty frames and quality components and are used by law enforcement at the federal, state, and local levels, including the FBI.
“EMU PD is proud to partner with GameAbove to utilize e-bike technology on campus,” said Matthew Lige, EMU executive director of public safety and chief of police. “The e-bikes will improve our ability to get to buildings and situations with increased efficiency. Having EMU PD officers on bikes is a great opportunity to engage students and staff in a positive circumstance.”
EMU’s Department of Public Safety will use the environmentally-friendly e-bikes during move-in, sporting events, and general patrol to improve campus safety.

This gift represents the latest in a series of ongoing gifts and support to the University from GameAbove. “I'm excited about this collaboration and look forward to the interactions with our Eagle family,” said Lige.
